GG's 7th birthday cake. Lemon sponge cake with layers of bavarian cream and topped with raspberry meringue.
Spent a very relaxing Thanksgiving day, cleaning the house up and doing a little more decorating, followed by a trip to the grocery with Dave for a few ingredients for dinner. We made a turkey version of Bánh mì Vietnamese sandwiches - so good - and a grapefruit and avocado salad, followed by fresh pumpkin pie with whipping cream. Ooh, and raspberry spritzers with a dash of muscato. Craig and Shana stopped over and kept us company during meal prep and later we ate with Jack in front of the fireplace.
Little pimiento will be 34 weeks along tomorrow. 6 weeks until I'm actually due, although possibly 8 before she actually makes an appearance! I woke up this morning to baby hiccups - so sweet. She's also been busy practicing breathing - I don't know if I've ever felt this with any of the babes before, but I love feeling her tiny fast little breaths against my hand. The newest development though is the startling. In the past few days whenever there has been a sudden loud noise (usually from the vacinity of gg or Dave), she's startled and given me a big kick. She's a very responsive baby and gentle belly rubs are almost always answered with a return kick or nudge.
We went to a birth class with our midwife last week and D practiced "catching" babe with a doll and stuffed cotton pelvis. Catching isn't as simple as it sounds though! He has to support her head as she's being born, check for the cord around her neck, and gently and firmly help her shoulders out before he lifts her up on my belly. Needless to say that we're very excited to meet her - it will just be an added surprise if she turns out to be a he!
